We’re about to expose Living With The Land as a total scam. On the attraction, the narrator says, “Our small fish farm produces nearly 5,000 pounds of fish each year to serve in restaurants around Walt Disney World.”

While at first glance this stat seems impressive, it’s really not. In fact, when you break it down, it’s actually extremely unimpressive. First off, 5,000 pounds in a year averages out to around only 14 pounds of fish per day.

The narrator states that they harvest bass, tilapia, and catfish. For estimation’s sake, we will say the average weight of these fish is 3 pounds. That means Disney is harvesting 4.5 fish per day in EPCOT.

So in a full year they are harvesting only 1,700 fish. When you hear 5,000 pounds, it seems like a lot, but it really isn’t. However, that isn’t the most interesting part. The second half of the statement is where it gets dicey.

Disney touts the fact that they serve these fish in restaurants around Walt Disney World. The average serving of fish in a meal is 0.5 pounds. So, if Disney harvests 5,000 pounds per year, that will make 10,000 meals.

That averages out to only 27 meals per day across all of Disney World. Meanwhile, Disney averages 160,000 guests per day. So, in the end, these fish only serve 0.01% of their visitors. This is a total scam.
