This was the deadliest theme park accident ever. In 1983, The Sky Scraper opened at Disney World’s EPCOT.

The ride was widely considered the most innovative theme park attraction ever made. It broke records for the tallest ride, standing at a towering 5,000 feet tall. The ride would take people into the clouds, where they could get an amazing aerial view of the Earth.

The Sky Scraper was designed to let people touch actual clouds, but in a safe way. However, one rainy day, tragedy struck. A commercial jet was taking passengers from Miami to New York and hit turbulence due to the storms in the area.

Unfortunately, they hit the Sky Scraper tower, causing the plane to crash and destroy the ride. All 230 airline passengers and 52 riders died instantly. Disney World and Kerr Ash Airlines couldn’t take the negative publicity.

So they worked with the United States government to quickly cover up this crash and prevent anyone from knowing about it. They did all that they could to erase any camera footage and news reports on this crash.

Today, there are very few photos and no known videos of this incident. Most of the footage has been erased or is owned by the US Government and kept in secret, confidential files.
