The Tower of Terror will soon go upside down. This thrilling new variation of the ride will send guests rising and falling like the normal ride, but upside down.
Disney is calling this version the Tower of Terror: Out of Order. Starting on January 1st, one side of the elevator shafts will be updated to this new ride experience.
The ride will start out like normal; however, while you go through the 5th dimension, the elevator will slowly rotate 180 degrees, so all riders are completely upside down.
Then, you will enter the drop shaft and rise and fall quickly like before, but this time upside down. Once the drops are over, the ride car will rotate back to normal, where you will unload like always. This is going to be one of the most thrilling rides at Disney World.
Before the pre-show room, you will determine which version of the ride you are doing. You will then be funneled into the right line for your experience. Disney is only offering it on one elevator shaft because of how intense it is.
This is similar to how Mission: Space operates with two different intensities. Only time will tell how popular the Tower of Terror: Out of Order is. However, many people are expecting that line to be less popular over time because it is so crazy.
