Space Mountain will be operating with the lights on permanently. The other day a man lost his hands on the ride. Because of this, Disney has decided to keep the lights on inside the attraction.

In fact, this is the second time that has happened in two years. We reported here that back at the end of 2022 a man lost his hands on the ride. Because of this, Disney kept the lights on during the ride for guest safety.
However, there were many complaints about this. Since there were no further injuries, Disney decided to turn the lights back off. However, bad luck struck again. A different man could use a hand after he lost his hands on the ride just a few days ago.
Because of this, Disney has made the decision to turn the lights on permanently on Space Mountain. Except this time, they will not be turning them off. This has led to a lot of speculation that Space Mountain will undergo a retheme.
This is because space is dark and having a ride called Space Mountain that isn’t dark, doesn’t make sense. There is no word on what ride might replace Space Mountain, however, given the backlash to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Disney better come with a good retheme.
However, many guests are calling for Disney to rebuild the ride to avoid future injuries and that a retheme doesn’t solve the underlying safety issue.
