Disney is renaming Donald Duck following the election.
According to an official statement, “After a lot of thought, Donald Duck will be renamed. His name is too close to Donald Trump and he has similar character qualities to the president-elect. We don’t want the beloved character to be connected to Donald Trump. Because of this, we will change Donald Duck’s name to Fauntleroy.”
Of course, big Disney fans might recognize that is currently Donald’s middle name. So from now on Donald Duck will be called Fauntleroy Duck. Overall people are not happy with this decision. Any time a classic Disney character is changed, people get upset.
We saw this with Mickey Mouse being removed as the official Disney mascot, which we reported on here. Despite being less popular, Donald Duck is no exception. Many people are angry with Disney for changing Donald Duck’s name to Fauntleroy Duck. Not only do they think it’s a bad name, but many people also think the reason for the change is dumb.
Even the biggest Kamala Harris supporters see this as a bad decision by Disney. They would much rather Donald keep his name, even if it sounds similar to Donald Trump. This is another example of Disney going woke and ultimately going broke.
