Breaking news, Disneyland is closing permanently. This announcement came out of the blue and is extremely sad.
According to the April 1st press release, Disneyland is set to close their doors permanently at the end of 2026. Because of this, they are halting all construction on new projects. Disney is struggling financially, primarily due to a significant decline in theme park attendance.
The main factor driving this is the massive increase in the cost to visit Disneyland. It used to be a fairly affordable place to go, and now it isn’t, costing more than $200 per person. They tried accepting food stamps to help, which we reported on here, but that didn’t work.
Disney is also making a lot of poor choices with their theme parks. They are closing a ton of rides that are nostalgic to their visitors and opening new rides that people aren’t excited about. There has been a massive waste of money on failed new projects.
Some of these projects include retheming Tower of Terror, Monsters Inc., Mikey and Sulley to the Rescue, and more. Unfortunately, Disneyland has been extremely mismanaged, and that is causing it to close permanently.
The worst part is that the guests are being blamed for this. They should have been more excited about Disney’s new projects and the price hikes. Disney adults are devastated and are taking to social media to cry over this news.
