Disney is suing people with unofficial Disney tattoos. Anyone who has a Disney tattoo that wasn’t done by an official Disney artist may receive a cease and desist letter from Disney.

This letter essentially states that their tattoo is not officially approved or endorsed by Disney, and they must remove it. Luckily, Disney gives them a few options on how to remove their tattoos. They can either do it with laser removal or by cutting off the body part with the violating tattoos.

For example, if you have an unofficial Mickey Mouse tattoo on your bicep, you can either have it removed by laser or cut off your arm entirely. As part of this letter, Disney will require you to send images showing that you have addressed the issue and removed the tattoo.
Overall, people are not happy about this decision for a few reasons. First off, Disney doesn’t have official artists to create official Disney tattoos for people. Second, when getting Disney tattoos, they didn’t know that it would be illegal, and they could be sued for it.
Third, people don’t want to go through the pain and expense of removing tattoos, either by laser or by cutting off body parts. It is rather gruesome and costly. So far, these cease and desist letters have been sent to over 1,000 violators, and many more are expected to go out over the next few weeks.
