Disney is adding a racist movie to Philharmagic. In October, Song of the South will make its debut in the show.
This is the movie that Splash Mountain was based on. As you might recall, Splash Mountain closed because this movie is racist and very controversial.
According to an internal source, the Song of The South scene will be between the Beauty and The Best and Fantasia scenes. Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear will find Mickey’s Sorcerer hat and start running away with it.
Meanwhile, Donald Duck and Br’er Rabit will chase after them to try and get it back. While this is happening, James Baskett will be singing Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. Overall, most people are excited about this.
Song of the South has some of the most iconic songs in it and Splash Mountain used to be one of the most popular Disney rides of all times. However, there are a few people who are extremely upset about this.
They’re mad that such a racist and problematic movie will be featured on Philharmagic. Disney is doing this to generate excitement for this ride, which has been lacking recently.
So far this is creating a lot of buzz around the ride and it’s expected to increase the amount of people who visit it daily. Adding Coco to the ride had a very similar impact.
