This is to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. According to an internal source, this is one of many controversial signs being added to the ride over the next few months.

The signs are meant to spark discussion and bring to light issues around the world. For example, in the American section, they will add a “Black Lives Matter” sign and a “No Kings” sign.

Meanwhile, in the Middle East area, they will add signs that say “From the river to the sea, Palestine should be free.” Then in Scandinavia, the dolls will hold up signs that say “Climate Change is Real”.

Lastly, in the South Africa section they will add a sign that says “Kill the Boer” as an anti-apartheid sentiment. Our source mentioned that while these signs may be controversial, the goal is to inspire change around the world.

Having the messaging come from children will hopefully be impactful on both adults and youth. However, many people are upset that it’s a small world is becoming so political.

There is also concern with some of the messages Disney is choosing to put on the signs, especially South Africa’s.
