Breaking news, Mickey Mouse is getting white skin. Disney has just released concept art of Mickey Mouse with completely white skin.
This is a rebranding effort by Disney to make him more popular with Gen Alpha. According to an official statement, “Mickey Mouse’s popularity is on a decline. Surveys have shown that he doesn’t feel relatable to kids anymore.”
The quote goes on, “In order to rectify this, we will be making Mickey Mouse all white.” As you might imagine, many people are upset about this for a variety of reasons.
A lot of people are saying that Disney is further promoting harmful racial biases. Also, Mickey is going from black to white, which is making him far less diverse.
The other issue that many people have is that he doesn’t look like Mickey anymore. Everyone is familiar with the three black circles that represent Mickey Mouse.
He also has a very distinct look in the theme parks and TV shows with black ears. Making him all white is going to look bad and ruin many people’s childhoods.
The new, all white Mickey Mouse is set to debut in 2026. He will first be featured with his new skin in a brand new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episode. In the episode, Mickey will talk to the audience about how important diversity is.
