Animal Kingdom Ranked as The Worst Theme Park in America

Disney is known for being the worst at many things. For example, it’s a small world was recently ranked the worst ride in America, which we reported on here. Also, they have some of the worst movies coming out in 2024, which you can read more about here. Unsurprisingly, they found themselves at the bottom of the rankings again with the announcement that Animal Kingdom is officially the worst theme park in America.

Animal Kingdom continues to struggle. Initially, we reported here on the Tree of Life dying. Then, it was later confirmed that the Tree in Life did in fact die. It’s almost a sign of doom when the park icon dies. On top of that, Animal Kingdom has had other problems, like the giraffe run over by the Kilimanjaro Safaris truck, which we reported on here. It’s those issues and even more that have led to Animal Kingdom being named the worst theme park in America.

Animal Kingdom Struggles

Ever since its opening in 1997, people have questioned Animal Kingdom. Walt Disney always wanted real animals on the Jungle Cruise. However, that would be extremely expensive and hard to control when the animals would be around. Well, now Animal Kingdom has Kilimanjaro Safaris, which found a way to have real animals. However, the cost to operate the ride and its sheer size does not outweigh the benefit it brings to Animal Kingdom. That is just one of the issues.

Another struggle for Animal Kingdom is a lack of rides and capacity. On average Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey have some of the highest wait times across Disney World. This is due to not enough rides, shows, and things for people to do in the park. This was especially true around Christmas when Flight of Passage consistently had wait times over 3 hours. Many people love Flight of Passage, but few argue it’s worth waiting 3 or more hours for.

Animal Kingdom struggles in many other capacities. From a yeti that has been broken for nearly 20 years to a Dinosaur ride that gets rethemed every 10 years. The park is full of attractions that just miss the mark. The attractions at Animal Kingdom continue to struggle, especially for Disney standards. All of these things combined are why people widely consider Animal Kingdom a half-day park.

Animal Kingdom Named Worst Theme Park in America

According to the official theme park rankings, Animal Kingdom officially topped the list as the worst theme park in America. This is the first time the park has made it to the top of the list, however, not the first time it found the top 10. This park consistently makes its way near the top, however, this time, it found a home as the number one worst park. The official ranking said “Animal Kingdom is a forgettable experience. If you have limited days at Disney World, don’t waste your time at this glorified zoo.”

The ranking is fairly harsh on Animal Kingdom, however, it is not undeserved. Many people would agree with the statements made. Most Disney World visitors rank Animal Kingdom as the last park to visit. This is due to the reasons we have already touched on. Many people also complain about how spread out the park is. They wish Animal Kingdom would close and turn into a Star Wars or Marvel Theme Park for example.

With this ranking, many people are asking if Animal Kingdom will close permanently. Some are suggesting it should close and make way for a new theme park. However, others defend the park, saying it’s a Disney staple that everyone should visit. In fact, some say that it’s the most thoughtful and well-themed Disney park in the world. It’s unclear if Disney will close Animal Kingdom forever due to this ranking, however, there are some internal sources that suggest it may close soon.
