The 2028 Summer Olympics are moving to Disney World. Originally, they were going to be in Los Angeles, however, Disney has just purchased the rights to host them.
They paid a whopping $500 million for this. Disney will have many of the events inside their theme parks. For example, the bike races will involve biking through the parks as well as on the roads outside Disney World, much like their marathons.
Meanwhile, Disney will build courts and arenas for events like table tennis, volleyball, and basketball inside their parks. In fact, the basketball games will happen right in front of Cinderella Castle.
On top of this, Disney will use the ESPN Wide World of Sports to host some events and build brand new stadiums on their property as well. The idea behind this investment is to create more excitement around Disney World and increase business with it on the decline. They will also use it to boost their ESPN division by broadcasting exclusively on ESPN.
Many people are even speculating that Disney has plans to open a new theme park in 2030 and will use the popularity of the Olympics to market their new theme park, which will be Force World.
This is similar to how Walt Disney partnered with ABC to create excitement for Disneyland. Many people are saying that the Summer Olympics at Disney World would be the coolest location they’ve ever had.
