Ron DeSantis Sending Migrants to Disney World

Disney World and Ron DeSantis have a long history of battling each other. In fact, we reported here on DeSantis calling in the National Guard to block the entrances to Disney World. However, this is just one example of the Disney vs DeSantis battle. Now the battle is heating up again with the announcement that DeSantis is sending illegal migrants to Disney World.

As you might recall, more than a year ago, Governor DeSantis sent illegal migrants to Martha’s Vineyard. This is similar to Governor Abbot sending migrants to sanctuary cities like New York and Chicago for example. However, those who support the influx of migrants weren’t as happy when they showed up in their states. Now, DeSantis is doing more of this, but sending them to Disney World.

Ron DeSantis Sends Migrants to Disney World

Thousand of migrants are currently being asked the question, “You just entered America illegally, what are you going to do next?” And now many of them get the pleasure of responding “I’m going to Disney World!” That’s right, Ron DeSantis is rounding up migrants in the state of Florida and sending them to Disney World. This is a bold move by the governor and we will break down why he is doing this.

According to a source familiar with the matter, America is suffering from an illegal migrant crisis. However, only a few states are impacted. DeSantis wants more of America to understand this issue and see how problematic it really is. So now he is rounding up these immigrants and sending them to Disney World. Disney World has so far accepted them with open arms. After all, everyone is welcome to their theme parks. 

Disney is providing these migrants with hotel rooms to stay in and giving them free tickets and food vouchers for Disney World. They want to help the migrants who have been unnecessarily moved by DeSantis. Also, Disney doesn’t want to look evil for not accepting these migrants, which seems to be the primary reason they are allowing them to stay on the property in the first place. If Disney starts moving the migrants, that will reflect poorly on them as a company.

Disney World Illegal Migrant Fallout

As you might imagine, Disney accepting migrants is causing quite a few issues. In fact, many guests are already complaining that the lines are getting longer because of the large increase in migrants at Disney World. On top of that, many guests are frustrated that these migrants get free hotels, tickets, and food at Disney World, while they have to pay thousands of dollars for their trip.

For Disney, this is an expensive burden to take on. They are losing money by giving them hotel rooms, free tickets, and food. While the out-of-pocket cost for Disney isn’t huge, the opportunity cost of losing business from people who would otherwise be willing to pay is the main issue. However, they are continuing to support this inflow of migrants being shipped unannounced.

Disney is now stuck in a tough position. The moment that they start to send migrants away is the moment they will get a lot of flack from people. They are going to be mad at Disney for dumping the problem on someone else and making it their burden. Right now, Disney is put in a tough spot by DeSantis, giving him a position of power over them.
