Meeting Disney characters is no longer free. The starting price to meet your favorite characters at Disney World is $10. However, for the rarest characters, it could cost up to $40 per person for a picture and an autograph.

Disney is copying the very successful industry of celebrity and professional athletes. Any time you go to a convention or athlete signing, you have to pay. The price depends on how in-demand and important the person is. For example, it would cost a lot more to meet Taylor Swift than it would to meet Aaron Rodgers.
The reason Disney is doing this is to generate more revenue. They know their characters are extremely popular and the best way to make some more money is by charging people for meet and greets. Luckily, Disney will make this seamless by scanning your MagicBand before you meet the characters. This will charge you through your My Disney Experience app.
The price per character will be tiered. Level 1 is $10 and includes less important characters like Winnie The Pooh, Peter Pan, Jack Sparrow, and more. Level 2 are princesses, which will cost $20 per character. Then, Level 3 is $30 and are the Fabulous Five. Lastly, level 4 is $40 and is extremely rare characters like the Bowler Cap Guy and Chicken Little.
As you might imagine, many people aren’t thrilled that they will have to pay to meet characters at Disney World. Luckily, you can still see them for free during parades.
