Disney World transportation is no longer free. Starting in 2026, Disney will charge guests to ride their buses, monorails, boats, and gondolas.

The cost to ride will depend on what vehicle it is, as well as how busy the parks are. For example, during Christmas, the fares will be a lot higher than during September. This is similar to the surge pricing that they have on Lightning Lane, which can be as low as $12 to as high as $50 during peak season.

For transportation, the boats will be the least expensive because they are the lowest maintenance and shortest trips. They will start at only $2 per ride per person and can go up to $5 per ride per person.
Meanwhile, the buses will be the most expensive. This is because they cost the most to operate, put on the most miles, and are always the busiest. A bus ride at Disney World will start at $5 per ride per person and will max out at $15 per ride per person.
A family of four should budget an extra $50 per day for transportation since it will always be a two-way trip. Disney will add MagicBand readers to their vehicles, and guests will just need to scan them when they get on, to make it as convenient and easy as possible.
Overall, people are not happy about this addition by Disney. They are already charging them left and right for everything else. This is similar to when they started charging for resort parking.
