Disney World is requiring all kids to wear GPS trackers. However, this is creating quite a controversy.

Disney World is now requiring all kids to wear GPS monitors

According to an official statement, “Lost children is the number one issue plaguing Disney World. In fact, each year, tens of thousands of kids get lost in the parks. Because of this, Disney is rolling out new GPS trackers for all kids under 18 years old to wear on their ankles. The GPS trackers will link to your My Disney Experience Account. All kids will be required to wear the GPS trackers inside the parks or risk being banned from Disney World”

This is similar to Disney requiring leashes, which we reported on here, but is less invasive. However, many parents feel that this is still an invasion of privacy. They also don’t like the idea of kids wearing what looks like an ankle monitor just to visit Disney World.

Another issue that many people have is the age cutoff. If Disney is going to require this, they don’t believe that kids over 10 years old need to wear this, not to mention 18 years old.

However, some see this as a great way to keep kids safe from running off or being kidnapped. So far there is more backlash than excitement for Disney World’s GPS trackers. Only time will tell if parents adapt to this new safety measure.
