Disney World is removing all security checkpoints. Instead, they will operate on the honor system, with the hope that people don’t bring in illegal or dangerous items.
According to an official statement, “The goal of this is to reduce the stigma of having to go through intense security to enter a family-friendly place. It’s also a far more equitable and tolerant position to take. On top of that, this makes entering Disney World far easier and less stressful.”
This will definitely make the process of entering Disney World easier, but as you might imagine, people are not thrilled by this decision. They feel like this makes Disney World a far more dangerous place.
They worry that people will bring in weapons and other illegal items. The good news is, so far there haven’t been too many issues since Disney allowed for open carry in their parks. Others argue that life is dangerous wherever you go.
They state that the world is a dangerous place and if you don’t want to worry about it, just don’t go to Disney World. Experts are expecting this to have a negative impact on park attendance at Disney World. Disney crowd levels are already trending downward and this will likely make it worse.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes for serious issues to arise. Of course, tattoos will still be banned at Disney World, which we reported on here.
