Disney knows that people spend a lot of money once they are inside theme parks on food, drinks, souvenirs, and more. Any customer that they can get to come to Disney World instead of Universal Studios is a win.
The goal is to get more visitors in their parks and fewer visitors at Universal. In fact, a study shows that on average, people spend $100 per day once inside the parks. So each person that Disney steals from Universal is an extra $100 in their pocket.
This is similar to when stores price-match with other stores. They would rather drop their prices to get some business than get no business at all. That is considered an extremely lucrative business model, and Disney is taking notes and applying it to their parks.
