Disney World is making their language more inclusive. Some of the new terms will include “expectant birthing people”, “grown-ups”, and “young people”.

This is to make their guests feel more welcome and magical. For example, from now on, for all safety spiels, they are changing “Expectant Mothers” to “Expectant Birthing People”.

This is to acknowledge that not all people expecting babies are mothers. Also, anywhere Disney says “parents”, they will instead say “grown-ups”. This is because not all adults are parents.

They could be grandparents, aunts or uncles, friends, etc. Labeling adults as parents can be very harmful to the emotions of some people. On a similar note, all children will now be called “young people”. This is to reduce the stigma around broken homes and a lack of parents in many households.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Disney has changed their language. In fact, just a little while ago Disney World changed the phrase “ladies and gentlemen” to “dreamers of all ages”. This was the first step for Disney to be more inclusive.

Now, they are requiring pronoun pins, which we reported on here. So much for them no longer being woke, which we just reported on here. Of course, many people are expecting similar changes to come soon.
