Disney World is building a $12 Billion weather controlling dome. This new dome will prevent any rain from falling in Disney World and keep it a controlled temperature year-round.
Once the construction of the dome is complete, every single day in Disney World will be a beautiful 70 degrees with no rain. However, to maintain this temperature, Disney will be using a new high-tech cooling system, which experts are saying will create a lot of pollution. Hopefully, no rioters burn down Cinderella Castle again, which happened here.
That is a sacrifice they are willing to make to improve the guest experience. Rain and hot weather drive guests away from Disney World. If they can guarantee perfect weather every day, they expect more people to visit Disney World.
On top of that, Disney will be raising all prices by 30% to fund this new construction. Not only will more guests visit, but they will also make more off of each individual guest from the price hike.
For years people have been asking Disney to build a dome around all of their theme parks. Now, they are finally doing it. This dome will cover 43 square miles, which is the entire size of Walt Disney World. At $12 billion, the Disney Dome is a huge risk, but Disney is betting on it paying off and making their theme parks even more profitable in the long run.
