Disney removes the height requirements from their rides. This decision comes following a discrimination lawsuit from the American Midget Association.

Per official court filings, they sued Disney because their minimum height requirement unjustly discriminates against midgets and dwarfs. Because of this ruling, now anyone, regardless of height, can ride any ride at Disney World.

That means you can now bring your toddlers on Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, which used to not be allowed. However, this decision has a lot of theme park and safety experts concerned. The reason for the minimum height requirements isn’t to discriminate against little people, but rather to protect them, and is for their safety.

If a person is too short to ride, it means that they may fall out of the seat or be put in danger in some other way. In fact, removing the minimum height requirement could lead to more injuries and deaths, according to experts.

Because of this, Disney is adding more warnings to their rides. These warnings will state that anyone under a certain height increases their risk of death and/or injury by riding the ride.

They’ll also mention that Disney will not be held liable for any injuries or death to anyone who is under the recommended height. This is essentially a way to have a minimum height requirement without actually having a minimum height requirement.
