Disney is launching their own cryptocurrency, DisneyCoin. This will become the official currency at Disney Parks.
In fact, the goal is to be the only currency accepted at Disney theme parks by 2027. That means that anyone who goes to Disney World or Disneyland would need to own DisneyCoin in order to purchase food, drinks, souvenirs, and more.
While this will be a digital currency, Disney will sell physical commemorative DisneyCoin to make more money. This is certainly a controversial move by Disney because most people don’t know how to use cryptocurrencies. However, the reason Disney is doing this is for financial gain.
A lot of the DisneyCoin will be available for public trade, however, Disney will withhold a lot of the cryptocurrency for themselves when it goes live. Then, once the trade value increases to Bitcoin levels, Disney will sell it off and generate a ton of revenue.
On top of that, it will become the official currency of Disney Parks, which means a lot of the cryptocurrency will come back to Disney. Many financial experts are calling this the smartest move ever made in cryptocurrency.
However, while Disney may win financially, this isn’t great for the guest experience. In fact, some experts are wondering if this will have a negative impact on Disney.
