Disney Eliminating All Cast Member Costumes

Disney is eliminating all Cast Member costumes. From now on, Cast Members can wear any outfit they want.

If they want to wear athletic shorts and a t-shirt, they can. For example, they can wear our Waiting in Line Sucks shirt, which is for sale on Esty here, if they want.

Alternatively, if they want to wear a jeans and a sweatshirt they can do that as well. Of course, there are some restrictions. The new dress code states, “All outfits must be appropriate. This includes bottoms that are at least mid thigh in length. On top of that, stomachs must be covered.”

Beyond that, the dress code is up to the discretion of the Cast Member and their boss. However, many guests are not happy about this announcement.

They state that Cast Member costumes enhance the theming and escapism that Disney is known for. By removing the costumes, the park gets a lot less immersive and it makes it less fun and classy. They might as well be Six Flags.

The reason Disney is doing this is to give more freedom to their Cast Members. It’s similar to how they can now show tattoos and abnormal piercings, which was also very controversial at the time.

It’s worth noting that costume characters will still exist in the parks. Also, Cast Members can opt into wearing their costumes still.
