Breaking news, a new Fastpass system is coming to Disney World. It will operate like eBay, where guests will bid on individual Fastpasses.

Essentially, every Fastpass will become an auction for every ride and every timeslot. If there is a Fastpass you are interested in, you can place a bid on it. The auctions will only last a minute, so they will go fast.

Then, the highest bidder will win the Fastpass for the select ride at the select time. At any given moment, there will be hundreds of Fastpass auctions going on at once. This is a really innovative move by Disney and makes a lot of sense.

First off, you don’t need to pay upfront like for Lightning Lane every day; you only pay when you win an auction. Second, the market will dictate the price of each pass, which means you might get some really good deals.

For example, all Fastpasses will start at $0.00, and each bid will be $0.05. If only three people bid on a pass, it will sell for only $0.15 per person; that is a great deal. However, if it is a Tron Fastpass on Christmas, the demand may raise it to $30 per person.

Third, there is no longer a cap on Fastpasses for the day. You can book any ride as many times as you want, as long as you win the auction. Allowing the market to dictate the price is a win-win for Disney and the guests. The only downside is that this will require a learning curve for all guests.
