What is more magical than meeting Mickey Mouse at Disney World or Disneyland? If you ask most people, they would say nothing. In fact, according to a recent survey, 95% of Americans have meeting Mickey Mouse on their bucket list. However, according to recent breaking news, Disney is removing all of their characters from their theme parks both at Disney World and Disneyland.

Seeing the world-famous Disney characters at Disney World and Disneyland isn’t just for kids. In fact, there are countless videos on TikTok and Instagram of adults crying their first time meeting their favorite Disney character. Some say those videos are touching while others call them creepy. Either way, you can say goodbye to touching videos like that now that Disney characters will no longer be in the Disney theme parks.
Disney Characters Are Dead at Disney World and Disneyland
One of the most shocking announcements around Disney characters was Mickey Mouse being replaced by Figment. This took the world by storm and landed us 12 million views. It was truly a sad day for everyone. However, a new breaking announcement has people just upset. The breaking news that all Disney characters are being removed from the theme parks has people shedding tears.

If this upsets you, you can thank the SAG-AFTRA strike for this. The Walt Disney Company is struggling to create new movies and shows because of the ongoing negotiations between the actors and the studios. Because Disney can’t make new shows and movies, they are pulling their characters from their parks. The characters are crucial to their shows and movies and will be removed from the park until an agreement is reached.
This means there will be no meet and greets or characters walking around Disney World and Disneyland. Also, all Castle shows will be canceled at Disney World. The parades at Disney World and Disneyland will still happen, however, all characters will be removed. Given this, it will be a much smaller and shorter parade. Essentially it will just be Cast Members as well as the Main Street Band in the parades for now.
Will Disney Characters Return to the Parks?
For those who are worried they will never be able to meet Mickey Mouse and Figment ever again, have no fear. Disney will bring their characters back to their theme parks when the strike comes to an end. This means that you will hopefully only be missing out on seeing your favorite characters for a few weeks.

However, just recently we saw a walkout of all Disney Characters from the Walt Disney Studios in California. Tensions continue to rise among both parties involved in this dispute. While it seems like an agreement may be nearing, the fact that Disney is pulling all characters from their theme parks seems to be telling us otherwise. This move is similar to actors being told not to wear character costumes for Halloween and instead dress generically.
Right now the timetable for seeing Mickey, Minnie, Elsa, Anna, Belle, Br’er Rabbit, and more of your favorite Disney Characters is unknown. While people are hopeful for a resolution soon, it’s possible the characters will be missing from the Disney Theme Parks for months to a year. It really depends on when the strike comes to an end. This is yet another annoying fallout from the strike.
